The complete file management and text
searching utility for Windows, Searcher finds text in,
and creates or extracts ZIP compressed files.
It searches all of the selected disks in a user's
system or network, for files and text specified with
multiple specifications for: disks, directories, file names,
DOS file attributes, file size range, file date range,
and/or text contents. Multiple directories may be specified
by wild card or point and click from the displayed tree.
Up to eleven different configurations of the
program (such as backing up to floppy disk), including past
search specification entries may be stored and recalled with
the press of a button.
Files which match any of the user's specified search criteria are displayed in scrollable list boxes, which include the file's name, path, size, date, file attributes, and the location of the text string in the file. For text searches, the text string and surrounding characters are displayed. The files may be sorted by file name, extension, directory, date, or size. Selected files may be copied, moved, deleted, run, have attributes modified, viewed for text with the Search Editor, or any of over 100 included icons, may be installed for the files in the Program Manager, or multiple programs may be launched, in one operation.
Included is the Search Editor which opens up to 16 windows of files selected from Searcher's list box. Files found in a text search are automatically scrolled to the text location. It edits multiple files, the size of which are limited only by available disk space. Searcher retails for $29.95. Try the shareware version now by clicking the "Install Searcher" text.
